We are thrilled to announce that we are partnering with the Red Cross again for our 4th Annual Blood Drive on Saturday April 7th from 10-4pm at Tualatin Valley Community Church.

Blood Drive 2018

Henry had leukemia which is cancer of the bone marrow where blood is made. The chemotherapy wreaked havoc upon his blood supply. So Henry had over 30 blood transfusions during his 3 years of treatment.

It took a lot of generous people to help give him the best shot at life. We want to return that gift and WE NEED YOUR HELP!  Your precious gift of blood can help up to 3 people. We have room for 60 Superheroes so that means 180 lives could be saved by the friends of Henry’s little tricycle of kindness. What a wonderful legacy.

This is the day we reveal the new kindness theme for the month by sharing a short story about Henry, written by his mom, Marla.

Henry had infant leukemia, a rare and aggressive form of bone marrow cancer. Bone marrow helps make blood cells. Treatment included Chemotherapy, a poison which kills the cancer cells. Unfortunately, it also kills any fast growing cells.

So Henry didn’t have the ability to make healthy red blood cells. The chemotherapy also killed his platelets which helps blood to clot. Many times during his 3 years of treatment, Henry’s blood counts would be critically low. He had countless blood and platelet transfusions. It was a normal activity in his life. It amazes me still to think how many people helped to keep Henry alive. Not just the nurses and doctors, but also countless volunteers who donated blood. Their blood and blood products helped keep Henry alive. That’s pretty cool to think about: a village of people, who donated an hour of their day to give a little boy life. I hope everyone who donates blood realizes that they are truly giving a life saving gift.

So our kindness theme for the month of March is to help us return the gift of blood.

We are thrilled to announce that we are once again partnering with the American Red Cross for our 2nd Annual Blood Drive on Saturday, April 2nd 10-4pm at Tualatin Valley Community Church in Hillsboro Oregon. This is an opportunity for us to give back for all the transfusions Henry received. WE NEED YOUR HELP!   We have room for 60 superheroes the day of the drive. RESERVE YOUR SPOT TODAY at with our sponsor code: RedTrikeBrigade.

We have something new this year for those of you who are needle shy or who can’t make it to our donation day. We are also hosting a VIRTUAL DRIVE. Simply go to and make a tax deductible donation or commit to donating blood at your time and place of choice. Look for the drive named “Red Trikes for the Red Cross” and tag your photos with #redtrikes4redcross. Our goal is an additional 100 units and $1,000.

We want to thank everyone who has helped keep Henry’s tricycle rolling, one act of kindness at a time. Donating blood is a priceless gift. What better joy than to know your act of kindness may save up to 3 lives!
