April 3, 2015 First Friday (Parks)

Posted on

Our trike theme for March was MOVIES. We had great fun leaving treats at our local Red Box kiosks and giving away movie tickets.

The First Friday for the month of April is full of great anticipation with Spring just beginning. To introduce our kindness theme here is a gem of a story about Henry shared by his mom, Marla.

******************************************************

“Henry loved parks. When he felt good we would go to “the boat park” and spend hours sliding.

Or we would go to Rood Bridge Park and he would swing and swing.

Sometimes he was brave enough to chase Owen down the big spiral slide. You could hear his laugh all the way down.

It was nice to watch him have this “normal” part of childhood.

We went on occasional walks through our local parks (Noble Woods and the trails off of 153rd Street). He liked to pick up leaves…and sticks of course.

I miss seeing him healthy enough to run those paths.

Megan also loved going to the park. She was always “monkeying” around on the bars or chasing her cousins.

So our “call to action” for the month of April is centered around Henry and Megan’s love of parks.

Here are just a few ideas:

*Leave some treats to be found along a path

*Tie a balloon to a swing

*Hide pinwheels or matchbox cars

*Plant a tree on Earth Day (April 22)

*Clean up around your local park

COME JOIN US from 9-12 on SATURDAY, APRIL 18th at ROOD BRIDGE PARK in HILLSBORO, OR.
