Happy 4th of July! We are so excited that today is also First Friday.
We hope you enjoyed “triking” last month in honor of Henry’s love for trains.
The theme for this month seems quite appropriate as we
celebrate our country’s birthday and honor the Red, White and Blue.
Here is our little gem of a Henry story for the month of July written by his dad, Lucas.
Henry was able to eat berries for only a few months of his life. He was not able to have them while he was on chemo, which was a big portion of his time here. But he made up for it in the sheer volume that he ate while he was able. I would take the boys to the farmers market on Saturday mornings and we would share a flat of berries. We each like different berries which conveniently reduced fighting over them.
I’m a raspberry, Owen ate the strawberries, and Henry would go to town on the blueberries.
During the summer he could eat berries,
I’m sure he ate his weight in blueberries.
So our call to action for the month of July is simple…”trike” BERRIES! If you grow berries you could give some to your neighbor. If not, you could purchase some at the farmer’s market and give them to someone behind you. If you have an abundance you could make some jam and give it to a local food pantry. Or maybe you could buy someone at a local restaurant a piece of pie. And let’s not forget our farmers who grow these delicious morsels. Perhaps you could think of a way to treat them too. We would love to see how creative you can be with your “trikes”, so please post your ideas on our Facebook page and share your photos.
Have a fabulous and delicious month of triking!
